Ro's new bed

When we were down visiting Rick & Jessica in Arkansas, we picked up the toddler bed that they no longer had a need for. We had been wanting to get one for Rowen so that we could save the crib for Kelvin to use, so this worked out just great for us.

When we arrived home we put together his little bed and Rowen knew immediately that it was his and he has loved it ever since...now if he would just stay in it all night! :)

Like Father like Son

Rowen loves to put on headphones and be like Daddy!

Brian wears headphones at the computer sometimes so that he can listen to podcasts or music and not disturb the rest of us. When Rowen spies Daddy with headphones he thinks he needs to wear some too. Luckily we do have 2 sets and a splitter, so Ro can listen too.

Here are some really cute pics that I captured last night...

While swimming Ro slipped and bumped his little head on a rock. It turned black and blue almost immediately and swelled up to a goose egg so quickly it was just amazing! It only phased and distracted Ro from the water for hardly a minutes and then he was back to having a grand ole time!







In the last picture here Ro has a very cheezy grin on his face. It is so cute when he gets a grin like this, it really shows how happy he is and how much fun he is having!

The falls at Falling Water Creek

I snapped some pictures of the fall. It is not a very high fall but it was sure rushing. Brian had been to this particular fall before and at that time it was barely trickling. All the rain from Gustav really added to this creek that is for sure! It made for great fun for the boys that's for sure!

While we were there another group showed up and at least one person jumped off the fall into the pool below and he told me that it was pretty deep, maybe like 12 ft. Would make for great fun! See the rope swing in the last picture...I can just imagine the fun that would make!

Swimming at Falling Water Creek

Rowen and Daddy had fun swimming in Falling Water Creek on Saturday afternoon. I was not feeling very well that afternoon so I did not join them so I was designated photographer. I had fun watching them!


Rowen learned a new word on the trip...TREE. In the 1st picture he was pointing at all the trees and telling Daddy all about the trees. Daddy asked him to count them and he proceeded...one two one two one two!


Rowen really loves to be in the water and had a ball splashing and getting wet.

They found a small little pool that was just perfect for Rowen to play in.

Rowen was totally fascinated by the sign and just stood looking at it for quite awhile. He kept wanting to reach out and touch the sign and letters but couldn't quite reach on his own power no matter how hard he tried.

Climbing Mt Magazine - part 2

Along the hike we spotted this beautiful mound of fungus that was just so vibrant and colorful among the green foilage so we just had to take a picture!

Once Rowen decided he had walked enough, we put him in the pack on Daddy's back. Rowen had a much better view from up high!

Rowen walked the 1st part of the trail to the summit. It was his 1st hike and he did a pretty great job! He walked between Mommy & Daddy so that he had someone to follow and someone to help him if he stumbled.






He stopped to look at lots of rocks and things along the way, finding things most of us wouldn't have even noticed. Oh the view of the world from such a little one is full of great things!

Arkansas Vacation

We are presently on a mini-vacation down in Arkansas!

We left home on Friday afternoon and drove down to AR and made it to Fort Smith where we stayed the night.

Saturday morning we slept in and then had breakfast and then hit the road. We headed a little Southeast and went to Mt. Magazine to the highest point in the state. We hiked the 1 mile round trip up to the point. Rowen actually walked for a little bit of the trail but then had enough and road on Daddy's back in the pack.

After the hike, we traveled to Russellville, AR where we had lunch at Wendy's and then checked into the Fairfield Inn. We then traveled some more and thought we were going to see a natural bridge but after riding 30 miles we find that the road is closed and there was no way to get there...it was a really gorgeous drive anyways!

We then took a back road (yes...a dirt road) and traveled to a Fall Water Creek where there is a cool waterfall and swimming hole. I was not feeling well so Brian & Ro went for a swim while I watched and took pictures. The boys had great fun in the COLD water! We had to ride on more dirt roads to get out of there and it seemed like it took forever...probably just felt like that to me as I was having some awful stomach cramps/pains!

We finally made it back to the hotel about 8pm or so and after relaxing a bit, I sent the boys out to pick up some dinner.

Tomorrow we look forward to traveling up to visit with Rick & Jessica and going to church and spending the day/night with them.

We will travel home on Monday making it home in time for me to attend my knitting class Monday night! :)

We didn't bring the card reader with us, so I will post pictures of the trip when we get home!

The correct Spelling is...

The decision has been made and his name will be spelled....

Kelvin Zane

Yes, we went with the original scientific spelling. Brian really wanted to stay with the scientific origins. We also like (as Brian pointed out) that when you remove one letter from the "in" spelling that you get a common name (remove the 'l' and you have Kevin). It is the same way with our other son's name (remove the 'r' from Rowen and you have Owen). So we will keep with this tradition.

I am happy with the choice!
